First TIme Registration on New Family Search

In order to do your personal Family History and prepare ordinances for the temple, you need to be registered as a member-user on New Family Search.

You also need to be registered there in order to access the training tutorials which the Family History Department will place in your customized “Help” section after you have registered as a Family History Consultant or Priesthood Leader.

Since the switch-over to using our LDS Account information for logon to New Family Search, new users no longer actually “register” on New Family Search, but are redirected to the site for creating an LDS Account, and then come back to merely log on and sign in.

What is an LDS Account?   It is the user name and password that is used to access LDS Stake and Ward websites.

If you do not already have an LDS Account, clicking on the NFS green “Register for the new FamilySearch” link just below the sign in windows on the NFS home page will guide you in obtaining one.

Or - you may find the tutorial linked below to be helpful for understanding the instructions on how to obtain one.

Note:  If you have previously registered your LDS Account username and password on New Family Search as a member-user, you will not need to register again as a Consultant or a Priesthood Leader, because we only register there once.

Simply log on with your LDS Account user name and password.
